How to test your app before publishing

Test the customer journeys that matter instead of checking only the home screen.

WEBSITE TO MOBILE APP

Keep your website at the center of your mobile experience.

Use the site you already maintain as the live experience inside a branded Android or iOS app.

✓ One website to maintainLive web experience

A useful app test follows the same paths a customer will follow. Opening the home screen is not enough. You need to complete the actions that create value for the user and the business.

Test on more than one device

Use different screen sizes and at least one older device. Check portrait and landscape behaviour where it matters. Slow connections can also reveal loading states and redirects that are easy to miss on fast WiFi.

Follow complete journeys

Create an account, reset a password, submit a form, complete a booking or place a test order. Open confirmation emails and return to the app. Record every point where the user leaves the experience or cannot continue.

Check app specific behaviour

Test the app icon, splash screen, back button, external links, downloads and permission prompts. If notifications are included, verify permission wording and what happens when a notification is opened.

Practical checklist

  • Test first launch and returning launch
  • Complete login and password reset
  • Finish checkout or booking
  • Open external and email links
  • Check offline and error states
  • Retest after every important fix

Keep a short test checklist for every release. Repeating the same core checks is more reliable than testing from memory.

The practical rule

Test the complete customer journey on a real phone before submitting an app to either store.

SEE IT ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE

Start with the site you already have.

Build a test version, check the customer journey on a real device, and choose your launch plan when you are ready.
